Being Happy

Being happy is a state of mind - one can drown into a quagmire of random worries
or immerse into an activity of enjoyment.
It boils down to "choice".
Many events can happen in a single day- we can be swayed by emotions as well.
Sometimes, we are cornered or caught in an unexpected situation and this can triggered off bad memories.
At this point, if we are quick to identify the cause of being upset and we can easily rectify our emotion and thereby avoid having a bad day.
It is important to have support from like-minded friends to remind who we are and what we are after in life.
An ancient Sanskrit verse puts the present and the past very well. Often I read the following verse to remind the very existence of myself , I copied it from somewhere during high school :
Look to this day.
For it is life,
The very life of life,
In its brief course lie all
The realities & truths of existence;
The joy of growth,
The splendour of action,
The glory of power,
For yesterday is but a memory,
& tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a memory of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vison of hope.
Look well, therefore to his day.
