Eija-Liisa Ahtila «Consolation Service» touches my heart

http://www.medienkunstnetz.de/works/consolation-service/video/1/

This video is about human relationship.
A story about an ending.
A story about a couple.
A story about consolation service.

I first saw this video back at Venice Biennale 1999.

She tries to grab his sleeve and take him by the throat.
Anni grabs J-P's arm & throat.
She tries to get hold of him.
J-P bends down, shrinks & vanishes gradually.
Anni paralyses & stares at the empty space.
She returns to her seat, concentrates & stares at the empty space.

Gradually J-P emerges again.
Anni gets up and walks to him.
They look at each other for a while.
Anni tries to grab J-P again.
He bends down and starts to shrink vanishing again gradually.
Anni hangs her head and arms, & sobs.
After a while, she wipes her face and sits down back to the chair.

Anni musters all her nerves and strength she can find inside her and J-P returns back.
Anni mustered all her nerves and strength she could find inside her.
Anni walks back to J-P.
They stand face to face & look at each other.
J-P bows down & stands up.
Anni copies him.
J-P smiles & vanishes.
Anni bows down once more.
He came back and showed how to bend.
Smiled, vanished & never came back again.

He came back, bowed & smiled & never came back again.
